Spring has Sprung!

Spring is here!
The season of renewal and rebirth is upon us.  Like a newborn baby, this season brings with it the sweetness of new beginnings and endless possibilities!
I am ready! Are you!?

He shall come down like rain
upon the grass: as showers
that water the Earth.

Where has the Summer gone...Back to School Tips

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it's off to school they go! I have one going back for her teaching credentials, one heading to Louisville for his 1st year of College, a Freshman experiencing his 1st year of High School, one experiencing being top dog of the Middle School as an Eight Grader, Fourth Grader, and a Pre-Kindergartener!
I can't believe the Summer has pasted already...back to the schedule and routine of things! So bitter sweet for me. This has been one of the best Summer thus far! I think as the kids get older it's less stressful for me. We all liked and enjoyed sleeping in, including my 5 year old who slept in until 9:30/10am.
I think when your kiddo's are all younger you really look forward to this day...but, with this day comes lots of future work. Alarm clocks going off starting at 6am, Wake up pats on the back, Homework to be helped with, Grades to keep up with, Tasks to be reminded, Lunches to be made, Sports to be have gotten to, etc., etc., -- Routine and Schedule are key there is no question!

Back to School means Fall is near and change of season is upon us.

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1

I look forward to and embrace this new SEASON! I hope these few tips may help you with your 'Back to School' routine!

  • Ways I implement my routine and schedule for my family is by using a large dry erase board in the kitchen. We have color coded dry erase markers. Every person has their own color.

  • I also assign 2 chores each a week for every child. This does not include their upkeep of their rooms and personal belongings throughout the house.
  • Laundry is a day assigned to a child. This starts with oldest to youngest at the beginning of the week. My oldest has Mondays, the next one in line has Tuesdays, and so on. I do my laundry, towels, sheets, etc., through out the weekend and have them put away by Sunday night.
  • I also, get back into a good routine of following the FlyLady! This has been a great routine builder for me and family! She has now given us access to a fabulous online schedule keeper and much more at Cozi.com
I hope these few tips may help you in implementing your 'Back to School' routine! Hope you and your family and a great year!!

Back to reality after a long holiday weekend...

Hope this finds everyone happy and safe after this LONG 4th of July holiday weekend! Re-entry as my girlfriends and I call it. After a vacation, holiday, or long weekend...back to the swing of things, is not always easy! We celebrated with swimming, boating, BBQ's, and fireworks over the past 3 days! Our celebrations even included a birthday yesterday! I can't believe it is already July! Where has the Summer gone! Well, going to continue to enjoy all that comes with SUMMER and get my booty back to laundry!

I'd like to share our recipe for the birthday celebration dessert my kids and I made for their stepdad.

Ingredients:
White cake
Large tub of cool whip
Fresh Strawberries
Fresh Blueberries

How to: We baked the 13 x 9 white cake and then cut it into one inch cubes.
Rinse your fresh fruit and slice the strawberries.
Then layer your ingredients...
Cake/Fresh Fruit/Cool Whip Then repeat in different order: Cake/Cool Whip/Then layer the fresh strawberries in lines across the dessert to represent the stripes in the american flag. Then place the blueberries in the upper left hand corner to represent the stars!

Enjoy!

Summer Kick Off Giveaway ~ Bath & Body's Warm Vanilla Sugar

OK...so, it's been like forever that I've blogged! I think I've only blogged a few times so far this year. Wow, how time flies and life goes in cycles. Balance is the key, and I'm still looking for it! -- Just as when my children were small and I'd fall into a nice routine/pattern with them...it would change! It seemed to cycle anywhere from 6 weeks to 6 months. Well, that is my life still today. When I get into something new... boy, I sure go for it! I really enjoyed the blogging world when I came across it a few years ago. I felt it was a great escape on one hand and on another a great way to socialize. Get acquainted with other woman that were enjoying what I was. I almost got to the point of really figuring out this blogging thing. Even on the verge of figuring out how to potentially earn money. Then before the holidays this past year, I tapered off.

Spring is Around the Corner... Needing a New Playset for the Kiddo's!?

The grounds wet and soggy here in the Mid-West... We are impatiently awaiting Spring time and warmer weather! Eleven days and counting! It's always fun to have something new to look forward to. Like a new purchase, an outing, or trip of sorts. Our yard toys have gone through their cycle of use! With my oldest being 21 and youngest only 4 we've had to say goodbye and hello quite a few times to our yard toys.

I'm looking for a fun new playset to purchase this year for the yard and have been doing a little research. I am excited to have come across these great wooden swing sets ... Hurry and take a look yourself. They have so many choices. Just in time for Spring! I can't wait to get ours!

I'm Planning & Playing Today...

I hope I don't wear myself out with this 'New Year' stuff... Being motivated, trying to be up and positive, working on tons of things I need to work on... But, it starts with SIMPLE PLANNING! I'm not obsessing because I know I need to live each day as it comes. Planning is going to be a part of my New Year Goals though. It's not just the planning it's implementing! And that is what I plan on doing! Today is Tuesday Plan and Play [FlyLady.net]:

“He who fails to plan, plans to fail” ~ Proverb quotes

Happy Tuesday!

I have used this Mom's Plan It Planner in the past thanks to my older sis!
It is very helpful in planning and being organized!
Good Luck with your 2011 Planning!
